Emeraude Cruises launched this Emeraude on December 16, 2003, the first ever luxury cruise ship designed as a direct inspiration from the past in Vietnam. Holiday-makers on Emeraude will cruise around scenic, memorable and beautiful Halong Bay. French owner, Eric Merlin, accidentally discovered the existence of a magnificent fleet of four single-wheeled paddle steamers-Emeraude, Perle, Saphir and Rubis, operating in Halong and other parts of Vietnam from 1906 to 1945 from a black and white postcard he bought in France.

Day 1: Hanoi - Halong Bay - Welcome onboard (L, D)
Welcome on board of Halong Ginger and set sail through bay while lunch is served. Passage into the magical bay, where thousands of sculpted limestone islands rise from the waves like dragons’ teeth.

After lunch, take a short trek to a nearby summit for a panoramic view of the bay dotted with Halong Ginger golden sails, go swimming on a quite beach or sunbathing on the sundeck. Later afternoon, visit an interesting fishing village with opportunity to interact with fishmen who have been living in the bay for almost three generations.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Hanoi - Halongbay – Ginner Junk (L/D)
08.30-13.00: Pick up by at your hotel about 8.30. Spend 3 hours sight seeing country Vietnam on the way to Halong city. Arrive at Ginger Pier just before 12.00 noon.
12.30: Boarding Ginger for departure. Welcome drink is served.
13.00 - 14.30: Lunch is served while cruising through BAI TU LONG Bay.
16.00: Trekking or swimming at SOI SIM Island.
17.15: Cruising to visit HANG DOI water tunnel with row boat.
18.30: Docking for overnight.
19.30: Diner is served. Guests dancing w Ginger staff’s interaction. Accommodation and overnight on junk.

Ha Long Bay, located in the Gulf of Tonkin, covers an area of 1500 square km. With more than a thousand limestone peaks soaring from its crystalline emerald water this area is one of the natural wonders of Vietnam and now one of four World Heritage listed sites in Vietnam. Visitors have constantly marveled at Halong Bays natural beauty. The tiny islands are dotted with innumerable beaches and grottoes created by the wind and the waves that make a excellent backdrop for swimming or just lazing about on the boat deck.
ITINERARY
8:00 departure. Enjoy the interesting 3.5 hour drive to Ha Long city. Arrive in Ha Long city. Lunch. Then take a private boat trip about 4hrs journey. Cruise through the emerald waters between the limestone outcrops and long corridors, visit THIEN CUNG cave (the cave of the heavenly palace - famous for its stalagmites and stalactites) the cave has only opened to the public since 1998. A short way visit the newly discovered DAU GO grotto (wooden stakecave-where in 1288 one of Vietnamese most famous Generals Tran Hung Dao amassed hundreds of stakes deep inside the cave prior to a battle with an invading Mongol army). Back to Halong city where your minibus will be waiting for you to take you back to Hanoi. 20h30 Arrive in Hanoi.
