Representatives from the Vietnamese embassy along with Vietnamese residents and students in China have participated in the voting for Halong Bay as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.
Au Viet Hung, cultural attache of the Vietnamese embassy in China said that the voting campaign has been conducted through different activities in China over the past two years, such as Vietnam Day in China, Vietnam Day in Shanghai Expo, fashion shows, Vietnam’s National Day celebration, Asia Sports in Guangzhou and Vietnam’s culinary cultural festivals. In the last three months, the Vietnamese embassy has organised visits to Halong Bay for foreign female ambassadors to China to admire and vote for the beautiful landscape.
Costa Classica cruise ship is scheduled to dock at Halong Bay at 8am on November 1, bringing 2,200 foreign travelers to Vietnam tour.
These visitors have booked a trans-Viet tour organized by the Saigontourist Travel Service Company.
After arriving at Halong Bay, they will visit Yen Tu and Long Tien pagodas, explore local markets and enjoy traditional art performances.
In the afternoon, the visitors will leave Halong for Da Nang in central Vietnam, where they make a tour of Hoi An ancient city, My Son relics and the former Hue imperial capital. These sites have been recognized as World Heritage by UNESCO.
Overseas Vietnamese in US vote for Halong Bay Many overseas Vietnamese and students in Washington gathered on October 25 to vote for Halong Bay as one of the seven new natural wonders of the world.
At the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Cuong called on all Vietnamese living in the US to encourage their relatives as well as international friends to vote for Halong Bay.
La Van Chung, a Vietnamese expatriate who has lived in the US for three decades, said the voting campaign for Halong Bay has received a positive response from large numbers of Vietnamese residents.
After a month of introductory single-night cruises, Life Resorts plans to make multiple-night voyages in Halong Bay on heritage junks available in time for the grand opening on November 4.
A group of travel agents, Vietnam tour operators, government officials and reporters will be the first to experience the Life Resorts fleet on a Halong Bay cruise the day after the opening celebrations, the company said in a press release.

Photos on Vietnam’s world heritages are on display at an exhibition that opened in the central city of Da Nang on Aug. 30 on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of August Revolution and National Day.
The photos were selected from more than 2,000 entries at a photo contest on Vietnam ’s world heritages in 2011.

A one-week photo exhibition themed Vietnam’s World Heritage will open in Da Nang on August 30.
The event will show 206 photos of 11 exhibits which were recognised as world heritages by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.
They include Halong Bay, My Son Sanctuary, Hoi An ancient town, Phong Nha-Ke Bang national park and relics of the Thang Long imperial capital and the Hue ancient capital.
The Giong Festival, Bac Ninh love duets, gong culture, ceremonial songs and court music will also be displayed.
A photo exhibition entitled “Halong Bay - the world’s natural wonders” is taking place in Paris, France.
The event offers an opportunity for Vietnam to promote the image of Halong Bay to international friends and overseas Vietnamese in France with the message “Vote for Halong Bay as the world’s natural wonders”.
On display at the event are 50 art photos which have been selected from thousands of high quality masterpieces on Halong Bay.
The event was co-organized by the Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition Department, and the Vietnamese Cultural Centre in France.
The exhibition will last through to May 10.
