Tour Highlights

Kayaking inside limestone karsts of Halong Bay is one of the specialties. Aside from the comforts and permits, escort boats allow you to efficiently experience the remote geology and untouched culture harbored within Ha Long’s scattered limestone islands. With tranquil sunsets and sunrises on the water, you should have good chances of wildlife sightings, and the serene romance of the outer islands is unforgettable.

Detailed Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - Hanoi – Halong City – Hang Toi (L,D)Sea kayaking tour at Halong Bay, Vietnam
Depart Hanoi for Halong Bay for a lunch and then start the tour.

The first day takes you to Hang Toi, where we will explore the bay by kayak. Throughout your trip, you explore complicated rock formations; paddle through long dark sea caves and visit cliff-lined inland lagoons (literarily called “Phong’s” in Vietnamese and “Hong” in Thailand). You will learn about stalactites and stalagmites, coral gardens, wildlife and Ha Long’s exceptional geology with English-speaking guide training cave kayaking and Ha Long’s Natural History.

Ha Long has large caves and lagoons that create dangerous tidal currents at varying but predictable times.

If you want to experience paddling at night, after dinner, this activity can be an option.

Overnight in a camp on the beach where you can enjoy the Bay’s dramatic shady rock formations view and ambiance.

Today, after a hearty breakfast you motor further into the endless islands and we go to the Second Island for kayaking caves. Each itinerary is built around the tides, but there are virtually unlimited options, and the highly technical outer islands’ Phong’s are exceptional.

In most caves, staff does the paddling. However, some long-range caves are large enough that cave self-paddling is sometimes an option.

Lunch and dinner with the escort boat before taking an optional night paddle.

Overnight on the boat or on the beach.

Day 3 - Second Island – Hanoi (B,L,D)
Have breakfast while enjoying sunrise, before continuing our exploration in the morning by circumnavigating the bay.

Our self-designed ultra-tough inflatable kayaks allow you to explore deep into small caves. As silent and smooth, you won’t disturb bat colonies, and if you are lucky, you might see birds, primates, reptiles, fish and coral closer than you ever dreamed possible. Many species we see were considered rare or extinct in this habitat. (Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but sunrise and sunset are the best times.)

After lunch, return to Hanoi.

Note: This kayaking tour can be extended to 4, 5 or 6 days.
